Rohit Sharma’s dominance as an opener has faded now. Some other young and emerging openers like Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Shubman Gill are shown outstanding strength as openers across formats.
They are young and can do a better job than Sharma. Hence, with the availability of powerful and young openers, Sharma can be dropped as the Indian opener. Since he cannot play effectively in other batting slots, he can be dropped from the team.
