Asia Cup 2022 – Asia Cup Cricket moving to Bangladesh?: Asia Cup CRICKET is really ‘JINXED’. For some reason or the other, the 2020 edition of the Asia Cup is getting delayed or postponed for more than 2 years now. With situation in SriLanka not too good, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has asked Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to be on STANDBY to host Asia Cup T20 Cricket from August 27th: Follow Cricket News Updates with InsideSport.IN
It is worth noting that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had still expressed their willingness to host the tournament. But the current economic and political turmoil in the country has again raised doubts over the tournament in SriLanka.
The final decision will be taken by the ACC before the end of 3rd week of July.

Asia Cup to be moved? – If moved out, the decision will be huge blow for SLC. The SLC up till now had managed to convince their neighbouring cricket boards including BCCI that they can succesfully host the tournament.
The Australian men’s team has just concluded a month-long tour of Sri Lanka. The Indian women’s team also toured the country recently.
However, the ACC doesn’t want to take any chances if the situation deteriorates further.
The protestors and unrest in the country reached the Galle International Stadium during the SL vs AUS 2nd test. This is the reason Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is likely to re-evaluate the venue for the tournament
Last week, thousands of protestors stormed the Presidential Palace in Colombo as Sri Lanka continue to grapple with civilian unrest. There is a huge shortage of essential goods and protests have been the norm. A few of the protesters reached the Galle International Stadium, during Day 2 of the SL vs AUS 2nd Test. Some of them scaled the Galle Fort which overlooks the Stadium in a massive security lapse, though the match went on without any stoppages.

Speaking to Insidesport, SLC CEO Ashley de Silva had suggested that not hosting the Asia Cup would result in a loss of 5-6M in revenue.
“Big revenues get generated by hosting teams like India and Pakistan. That’s why we are still trying to persuade the countries to play in Sri Lanka. For us revenues are critical. At this stage even for our country any incoming dollar is critical. We are all geared up to host the Asia Cup and we all are in a positive mood”, said CEO of SLC Ashley de Silva.
Earlier this week, Sri Lankan media reports suggested that the SLC had received the green light to carry forward with the Asia Cup. The successful hosting of the ODI and T20I series against Australia did put SLC in good light, but the recent protests should put in a huge question mark.
Why Cricket World is looking forward to Asia Cup? India will renew their rivalry against neighbours Pakistan when the two teams face off in the upcoming Asia Cup.
The tournament, to be held in Sri Lanka, will kick off on August 27, with the India vs Pakistan set to be played on August 28 as per early reports. India are reigning champions having defeated Bangladesh in the final last time out.

SLC is going ahead with Asia Cup after getting the green light from India. They are drawn up with Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The high profile India versus Pakistan scheduled on the 28th August. Qualifiers will start on 21 Aug. Tournament proper from 27 Aug to 11 Sep. Exciting.😍
