New Delhi, Aug 3: A 15-member team for the ACC T20 Asia Cup, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates from August 27 to September 11, and a 16-player squad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League matches against the Netherlands from August 16 to 21 were both unveiled by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday.
Babar Azam will lead a full-strength Pakistan squad for the Asia Cup and before that the three-match ODI series against the Netherlands in Rotterdam.
Hasan Ali has been replaced in both squads by fast bowler Naseem Shah, and Salman Ali Agha, who travelled to England in 2021 for the ODIs, has been summoned back.
“Hasan has been given a break from international cricket and he has been replaced by Naseem Shah. He is express fast and can give further impetus to the fast bowling department,” said Chief selector Muhammad Wasim, in an official release.
Shaheen Shah Afridi has been kept in the ODI and T20I squads, and the team trainer and physiotherapist will oversee his recovery process and make the decision regarding his return to international cricket.
From the Netherlands ODI team to the ACC T20 Asia Cup team, there will be five changes. Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Usman Qadir will take the position of Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Haris, Salman Ali Agha, and Zahid Mehmood.
The players’ training camp will take place in Lahore from August 6–11, and two 50-over games will also be played there. In the early morning hours of Friday, August 12, the team will leave for Amsterdam. T20I players will join the team in Dubai on August 22 for the ACC T20 Asia Cup.
