Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja has come up with fresh comments on the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023 dispute with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The tension between the BCCI and PCB got underway after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah, who is also the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), declared in October that next year’s Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in Pakistan, will be held at a neutral venue as India can’t travel to Pakistan.

In response, the PCB chief Ramiz Raja threatened to pull out of next year’s 50-over Cricket World Cup, which is set to be held in India. Also, he said that the Men In Green might also pull out of the next year’s Asia Cup if they are denied the opportunity to host the tournament.
Meanwhile, the PCB chief Ramiz Raja has now asserted that they would resist moving the Asia Cup 2023 out of Pakistan.

“We don’t want to really go there but it’s just that the fans want us to react. The fans are absolutely bitter because of what India’s narrative has been regarding India-Pakistan,” Raja told Sky Sports Cricket on Saturday.
“I think there’s a government policy and I’ve got no idea whether they’ll come or not. The Asia Cup would mean a great deal to the fans, it’s a multi-nation tournament. We will resist,” he added.
The PCB chief also backed the idea of resuming the bilateral series between the arch-rivals and said that the Pakistan players have got a huge fan following in India.
“I’m all for India-Pakistan contests, I’ve said this on record. I absolutely love the fans, and they like us as well – Pakistan has become a brand in international cricket, the players have got fan following in India, and I know that the second most watched team in India after India is Pakistan, so they take interest in our development,” Raja said.
Ramiz Raja added that Pakistan have been doing well in cricket and have “survived extremely well” without playing against the Men In Blue.
“We want to go and play, but the fact is it has to be on equal terms. You can’t be subservient to a certain cricket board. We’ve survived without India now for a good number of years. Pakistan have looked at the scales of economy in-house and somehow have survived extremely well,” he concluded.
