Both teams have recently played each other in the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup. While India reached the semi-finals, Bangladesh was eliminated after the super 12 round. Despite Rohit Sharma’s best efforts with an injured left thumb, India fell short by just five runs needing 20 off the last over to win. Earlier in the game, Bangladesh scored 271/7 after being reduced to 69/6 on the back of Mehidy Hasan’s maiden ODI ton.
Mahmudullah also scored 77 and Nasum Ahmed’s unbeaten 18 helped him and Mehidy stitch a 54-run stand together. India reached as far as 266/9 with skipper Rohit remaining unbeaten on 51 off just 28 balls.
