Former England National Cricket Team captain Michael Vaughan has showered ultimate praise on Pakistan National Cricket Team captain Babar Azam after his fine century against Ben Stokes & Co. in the Rawalpindi Test.
The first Test of the three-match series between England and Pakistan is being played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from December 1 to 5. A lifeless pitch was produced for England’s first Test tour of Pakistan in 17 years and several fans and experts slammed the PCB and pitch curators for the poor surface.

The Rawalpindi deck, which many felt was one of the flattest pitches produced in a Test match, offered nothing to the bowlers and the batters from both teams piled up runs.
Shocking pitch for Test cricket .. #PAKvENG

On Day 1, England registered a record-breaking total of 506-4 and four batters – Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope and Harry Brook – smashed centuries. On Day 2, England kept playing an aggressive brand of cricket and they were bowled out for 657.
In the second innings of the match, Pakistan openers Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique, just like England openers, had a great partnership and both the players smashed centuries.
On Day 3 of the match, Pakistan captain Babar also scored a century to become the 7th batter to register a ton in the ongoing Test match in Rawalpindi. Babar Azam, who had a great partnership with Saud Shakeel, completed his century off 126 balls and he smashed a four to England captain Ben Stokes in the 111th over to reach the milestone.
Vaughan looked highly impressed with Babar’s batting performance against England in the first Test match of the series and he took to Twitter to hail the Pakistan captain as the “best in the world”.
“Class act @babarazam258 .. Nothing more sure of a 100 than one for him on this pitch .. across all formats the best in the world .. #PAKvsEng,” Michael Vaughan tweeted.

Notably, Babar has reached the 1000 runs landmark in Test cricket in Pakistan in just 14 innings. Also, he has registered 5 out of his 8 Test centuries in Pakistan. Overall in 2022, Babar has smashed 7 centuries across formats, which is the most by any batter.
