Hasan Ali, a fast bowler, is set to be called up by Pakistan to the Test team in order to take Haris Rauf’s position, who will miss the remainder of the England series due to a quad injury. Rauf suffered a grade two quad injury in Rawalpindi while playing in the field during England’s opening innings.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Pakistan will use a fast bowler who was not a part of the initial 18-man team for the second Test, which begins on Friday in Multan.

Mohammad Wasim Jr. was the only specialised fast bowler who did not participate in Pakistan’s first Test match. However, Wasim Jnr has yet to participate in a Test match, and three of the four bowlers who competed in the first Test in Rawalpindi were also making their debuts. Therefore, it is seen as important to add some experience to the attack.
Hasan Ali, who was recently selected Pakistan’s Test Cricketer of the Year for 2021, used to be one of the first names on the Pakistani squad sheet. He is less dependable as a bowler for the Test team due to his tendency to go through spurts of form, and during the past year, his red-ball statistics have significantly decreased.

He participated in the England series but played against Sri Lanka in July; his 14 wickets for Southern Punjab in the just-completed Quaid-e-Azam trophy came at a cost of 40 runs per wicket.
But his experience with the national team—he played 21 Tests and made his Test debut in 2017—will strengthen a bowling lineup that is particularly inexperienced. Furthermore, his high ceiling may offer an extra element that a Pakistani bowling lineup without Shaheen Shah Afridi might be lacking.
Another choice is Mohammad Abbas, despite the fact that he is an unsatisfactory like-for-like replacement for the wounded Rauf due to his line-and-length medium pace.
Abbas, who took 18 wickets at a strike rate of 24.16 for Sindh during the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, may be a desirable alternative despite the fact that ESPNcricinfo knows that he has not yet been contacted. Despite having a disastrous debut, Pakistan chose to play Mohammad Ali, a bowler identical to Abbas, in the first Test.
