England defeated the Men in Green by 26 runs in the second Test at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday to clinch the series with a match to spare and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has slammed Pakistan batting coach Mohammad Yousuf’s statement on Mohammad Rizwan during a press conference.
Chasing 355 to win, Pakistan put up a brave fight but were bowled out for 328 in the second session on the fourth day of the match. It was their third consecutive home Test defeat, following a loss to Australia earlier this year. England won their first series in Pakistan since 2000-01 and will conclude the series with the third and final match in Karachi on Saturday.

During a press conference at the end of Day 3 of the 2nd Test in Multan, Yusuf was asked about Rizwan and his struggles in Tests, as well as why the wicket-keeper batsman was playing despite low scores. The 48-year-old Rizwan said that it does not come under his domain.
“When I came aboard the PCB – it has been almost 2 years and some 8-10 months with the team. One thing is clear that every person operates within his domain. I won’t enter anyone else’s domain and no one else will enter mine. So, I don’t think this question belongs to my domain. Don’t mind, but this is not my domain,” Pakistan batting coach Mohammad Yousuf said during the press conference.
With the Test series lost, Shahid Afridi believes the management should consider resting wicketkeeper-batsman Rizwan and bringing in Sarfaraz Ahmed or Shan Masood for the third and final test match of the series.
“He is the batting coach, right? So obviously, if the players do not perform, he will be asked questions. As a batting coach, this is his domain. And about Rizwan, I have already said that the time has come to maybe give other players an opportunity,” Afridi said on Samaa TV.
“I am not saying drop Rizwan altogether, but he sure can be rested. You have lost the series and the third Test is in Karachi, so why not bring in someone like a Sarfaraz or Shan Masood,” he added.
While Rizwan has been in excellent form in T20Is and ODIs, he has struggled in Tests, scoring only 236 runs in the last ten innings. Rizwan hasn’t scored a half-century since his unbeaten 104 against Australia in March.
