Former Pakistan Cricketer Kamran Akmal expressed his disappointment with the batters’ strategy in the wake of Pakistan’s 26-run defeat to England in the second Test of the current three-match series.
Akmal drew attention to the fact that the majority of batters did not finish the game for their team by converting their beginnings into big knocks. Babar Azam and company didn’t appear to be going for the win, according to the keeper-batter.

Suad Shakeel led the hosts’ second inning with a valiant 94-run knock, making him the top performer. According to Akmal, the batter shouldn’t have been given out since keeper Ollie Pope’s catch should have been a catch after the ball had touched the ground.
Kamran Akmal remarked that considering that England preserved a leg slip for that specific hit, the batsman should have ignored the outside-leg delivery. He said this when talking on his YouTube channel: “Pakistan never appeared to be playing to win. The batters were called out in their 50s and 60s. Nobody attempted to score a century or win the game for their team. Saud Shakeel performed admirably.”

“He should, however, have ended the game. Yes, that was an unexpected decision. But, given the field positioning, I don’t think he needed to play that shot.”
Kamran Akmal continued by claiming that the Babar Azam-led team dropped players like Azhar Ali and Nauman Ali when choosing their starting lineup for the important second Test against England.
Kamran Akmal remarked that the home team would have benefited greatly from having left-arm spinner Nauman on such a spin-friendly surface. He asserted that the bowler would have prevented England’s batters from easily scoring.
“Pakistan made a mistake by leaving out Azhar Ali; they played two fast bowlers on this wicket instead of going with Nauman Ali; had Nauman been there with Abrar Ahmed, England would have struggled to get runs; from what I’ve observed, Nauman is really dangerous on such tracks.”
Pakistan is no longer in the running for a spot in the 2023 ICC World Test Championship finals after losing the series to England. With a percentage of points (PCT) standing of 42.42, they are ranked sixth overall.
