Ramiz Raja, the head of the PCB, became furious and told the reporter to stop following the “narrative” when he was questioned on Saturday on the ICC’s decision regarding the Rawalpindi pitch.
The Rawalpindi pitch, which hosted the first Test of the three-game series between Pakistan and England last week, received a “below average” rating from Andy Pycroft of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

Under the ICC Pitch and Outfield Monitoring Process, the venue also received one penalty point. PCB chief Ramiz Raja was on Saturday asked about the ICC ruling on the Rawalpindi pitch and he fumed at the reporter, demanding he move on from the “narrative”.
“It was an extremely flat pitch which gave almost no assistance to any style of bowler. That was the main reason batters scored quickly and both teams achieved massive totals. “The pitch barely degraded during the game,” said Pycroft.
“Since there was very little in it for the bowlers, I found the pitch to be “below average” as per the ICC guidelines,” Andy Pycroft Added.
When a reporter questioned Ramiz about the Rawalpindi pitch rating on Saturday for Day 1 of the third and final Test between Pakistan and England, Ramiz became furious with him.
“Both the match produced results. Move on from this narrative. This leads to negative headlines. Our cricket is now a brand and we ourselves must take of it. If you want to spread negativity there are 10000 other things. We are working on it now and only ask you to have patience,” Ramiz Raja said.
Rawalpindi received a penalty point for the second time this year, following hosting a match between Pakistan and Australia earlier in March.
