Danish Kaneria, a former leg spinner, has blasted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for constructing a poor pitch for the upcoming Test series opener against England.
Pakistan has been chastised from all quarters for canceling the first Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Bowlers from both teams battled on the surface, while batters thrived on the sluggish pitch.

Kaneria claimed on his YouTube channel that Pakistan has become the butt of all jokes owing to its failure to provide a decent surface. To avoid a similar predicament in the future, he advised the board to take a lead from India and design spin-friendly surfaces for home Tests.
He remarked:
“The cricketing world is laughing at Pakistan right now. Everyone is trying to elevate Test cricket these days. However, Pakistan have made a total mess.
“India make spin-friendly tracks for their home. We also should have done that at least. These tracks only help create batting records, and it becomes boring for the viewers.”
Kaneria went on to explain that Pakistan cannot be expected to develop pitches with a lot of bounce. He mentioned that Australia and England are able to produce dynamic surfaces because they have a competent curatorial teams.
The 41-year-old argued that his home country should prioritize recruiting educated curators over delegating authority to those who know nothing more than watering and rolling the field.
Kaneria elaborated:
“We must understand that we cannot make pitches in Pakistan where there will be bounce like in Australia. Countries like Australia and England have a potent team of curators who create quality tracks.
“However, in Pakistan, the curator only believes in watering and rolling. They never check the temperature of the surface, nor do they try to change the soil or clay. We need educated curators in Pakistan.”
England scored 657 runs after opting to bat first in the Test, with four players scoring 100 runs. Furthermore, courtesy to centuries from openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam and company have put up an outstanding performance in response.
