The 37-year-old Azhar Ali, who is regarded as one of the most successful Test batters of Pakistan, was given a guard of honour by his teammates as he walked off the field after getting dismissed in his final Test innings.
On December 16, Azhar Ali announced that he will retire from Test cricket after the ongoing third Test of the three-match series against the England National Cricket Team at the National Stadium in Karachi. Notably, the veteran batter had already retired from ODI cricket in 2018.

Azhar didn’t have the outing that he would have wanted in his final Test match. In the first innings, he scored good 45 runs off 68 balls, before being dismissed by Ollie Robinson. However, in the second innings his former Somerset team-mate Jack Leach cleaned him up for a 4-ball duck. Leach bowled a full-length delivery that gripped and turned from the middle to hit the top of the off-stump.
After the dismissal, England players instantly gathered together to congratulate Azhar for a highly successful career and the Pakistan veteran received a warm round of applause from the Karachi crowd and handshakes from opponents.
